Nicholas Ballenger was born in Las Vegas, Nevada, but moved to Salem, Oregon when he was 9 years old. Growing up in Oregon meant a lot of sports, and a lot of outdoor adventures. Soccer became his specialty, and through that focus, a foundation of discipline, hard work, and passion for a goal was developed that has carried on to every other facet of his life. From a pursuit of professional soccer that brought him around the world, to jobs in construction, sales, manufacturing, and marketing, his diverse set of skills has set him up to provide a different perspective to the team that will be advantageous to Teach Me To Fish as a whole. He keeps the biblical phrase, “To whom much is given, much will be required,” (Luke 12:48) close to his heart, and lets it act as a guiding principle of his. This is a major driving force as per why he looks forward to helping elevate the opportunities of the next generation of disadvantaged youth. We all play a part in leveling the playing field of opportunities for the marginalized youth in our society, and Teach Me to Fish has an amazing mission to do just that, one child at a time.
